The former Earhart home (now the Birthplace Museum) is directly across the street from the Missouri River with a view to the “Amelia Earthart Bridge” with spans Kansas and Missouri. Tiger lillies grow wild in the yards and fields.
The former Earhart home is decorated with vintage furniture to display artifacts, photographs and documents relating to the life of Amelia Earhart. (Left) A china cabinet in the parlor displays various magazines in which Earhart was featured as well as a model of her first plane, a yellow “Kinner Airster” biplane, which was donated by Giacinta Bradley Koontz and modeler, George W. Crabtree of California. (Below) Dr. Alex Mandel, a noted Naval historian from the University of the Ukraine, donated his scale model of the USNS Amelia Earhart which was launched in 2008. Dr. Mandel was a special guest for the San Diego launch.
